Camp Farwell proudly presents…

June 29, 2007

Witch Way!

We have just had the first performance of the play that the Performing Arts Clinic worked on this week. It was an original script by Becca, with songs written by Becca and Kate, and wonderfully put together by the entire Performing Arts staff. The kids did a fabulous job with only a week’s preparation time. It was a very creative concoction combining some of our favorite stories and songs… well, the music of the songs anyway, as the lyrics were customized to the story line. We had a lot of fun, both actors and audience, and we ended up all dancing together to the music. – Paola

Drips from Choppy Waters

Thought For The Day June 28th

“You get what you get, and you don’t get upset.” – Mikea

My favorite part of Clinic Week is riding Milla, my favorite horse! The lake is very refreshing, and the food is yummy. There is a mail room where the CITs sort the mail, which we get after lunch. At the end of lunch they read a package list for everyone whose parents or friends sent them a package. My dad sent me a necklace that blinks. Thanks Dad!– Kylee, Choppy Waters

Well, I woke up this morning only five minutes before the hopper bell! Then, after breakfast I went to the swings and then I played tennis and soccer. That’s all for now!
–Michelle, Choppy Waters

I am having fun at Camp Farwell. In the morning, I have horse riding and land sports. We have twenty-two horses at the barn. In the afternoon, I have water sports, like water skiing, kayaking, etc., or I have performing arts. Yesterday we had two dance competitions. I danced with Mikea, and we won! The prize was M&Ms. I love Camp Farwell. I’m having a great time. I have three counselors in the cabin with me and it’s very good. –Anne, Choppy Waters

All is well at Camp Farwell, and I am having a lot of fun! My whole cabin is happy. Today I went Kayaking, and it was pretty hard because the wind was pushing me back. My arms are tired now! I am really improving during my tennis lessons too. Camp is so fun, and I hate to leave. It’s time for evening activity!– Charlotte, Choppy Waters

Wow! Time really passes fast.

June 28, 2007

It’s almost like Clinic Week just started, and it’s coming to an end. The kids have been busy in their activities, and here in the office I’ve been serenaded by the Performing Arts Clinic getting ready for tomorrow night’s and Saturday morning’s performances. In the Landsports Clinic they played tennis first, and then different sports, finally converging in a soccer match. The Watersports Clinic was also full of energy and games, and the Riding Clinic was no exception. The kids are playing a game of Smugglers on the lawn right now, and I’m sure that when closure comes, they’ll all be ready to go to bed. All in all, the week has been a blast. And we have more to look forward to, as the opening of our First Session is right around the corner. Stay tuned for more updates on the Camp Farwell Blog. – Paola

Monday of Clinic Week…

June 25, 2007

smile-horseToday is the first day of activities for the summer and it has been a hot one! There was a threat of rain but it seems to have missed us! All the campers and staff have been enjoying their activities. The waterfront was a popular destination at free dip after an intense soccer match and morning of riding. This afternoon has been filled with laughter from watergames while a few campers have gone kayaking and waterskiing. Up in the barn campers have spent their time in stable skills and riding both in the ring and on trails. Performing arts is working on their singing and dancing and getting a show ready for the end of the week. Everyone is excited about it! All in all the first day of activities have been awesome! – Shelby

The kids are here!!!

June 24, 2007

After a year and a week of waiting impatiently for camp to start again, the kids are finally here.  As you can imagine, we are very excited.  I can hear them on the front porch singing Farwell songs.  The hopper bell just rang, and we are about to have lunch.  Pictures are up on the photo album site, so make sure you check them out.  More soon. – Paola

Last Day of Orientation

June 23, 2007

We are rounding up our last day of orientation. It has been a great week! We have done a lot of hard work to get camp ready. The counselors have been busy planning for clinic week activities. Last night we had another arrival, Mert from Egypt who will work in the kitchen. Currrently we have 4 campers here already and we are super excited about it!! We are all looking forward to tomorrow when a large group of campers will arrive. The horses are doing very well. They have settled in nicely. Most of them have been here before so they know the drill. We have been in the water swimming, kayaking, and boating. We have been playing tennis, field hockey, practicing archery and getting to know eachother. We can´t wait until tomorrow, when all the kids will come and camp will be on its way!!!!!!

Staff Orientation Ends

June 23, 2007

Today brings our orientation to a close. It has been a cool week with temperatures lower than normal. The staff has been wonderful and hardworking and the camp is looking ready for the Clinic Week which begins tomorrow.

Tuesday was a day off for everyone. The big yellow bus arrived at camp and took everyone down to West Lebanon where there is a Walmart and then to Hanover which is the home of Dartmouth college.

The horses arrived on Wednesday and if you go to our photo album, you will see some pictures of their arrival.

Today everyone is moving into their new cabins for the week, and are busy making cabin and table signs. – Charyl :-) Sivan & Hanna

June 17, 2007

We have just completed our first day of staff orientation. It was great. The staff are all starting to bond, and we had our first cookout of the summer. We had a blast teaching the new staff some of our Farwell oldies like Farwell Light or the Princess Pat. We are all looking forward to what tomorrow has in store for us. We’ll keep you posted, so check back often.
